Step 1: Inquiry and product specification
Every project starts with a clear brief. Share your drawings, samples, or reference products, along with target price, quantity, and certifications. The factory reviews feasibility and sends a quotation covering tooling, samples, unit price, and lead time. Agree on the specification in writing before any payment.
Step 2: Tooling and first sample
For custom products, the factory designs and machines the mold, then produces a first sample. Review the sample against your specification: dimensions, hardness, color, logo, and finish. Expect one to three rounds of sample revisions. Mold costs are usually paid once and remain owned by you unless agreed otherwise.
Step 3: Sample approval and pre-production
Once you sign off the approved sample, the factory orders raw material and runs a pre-production trial or pilot batch. The pilot confirms color consistency, coating performance, and assembly quality before the full run. Insist on a signed approval document referencing the exact sample you accepted.
Step 4: Mass production and quality control
During mass production, factories perform inline checks and a final inspection (AQL) before packing. You can request a third-party inspection such as SGS or QIMA before shipment. Agree on acceptable quality levels, defect definitions, and rework procedures in advance so there is no ambiguity at delivery time.
Step 5: Packing, logistics, and documentation
Custom packaging, carton marking, and palletization are finalized before loading. The factory prepares commercial invoice, packing list, and export documents. Choose FOB, CIF, or EXW terms and track your shipment by air or sea. Keep the approved sample, test reports, and inspection photos as your quality reference throughout the process.
