What MOQ 288 means
MOQ means the minimum order quantity the factory accepts for a product. For custom swim goggles, the standard start is 288 pieces. This is the total order requirement, not necessarily one color. The factory still needs to confirm the practical minimum for each color, logo method and packaging option because setup and material handling differ.
When the minimum may change
Existing models are usually easier to produce at the standard minimum because tooling already exists. A new product shape, new lens, new mold or complex packaging can change the commercial requirement. Multi-color assortments and customized retail sets may also require a higher total quantity. Confirm these details in the quotation before planning inventory.
Prepare the order brief
A useful brief includes the goggle style, target user, target quantity, colors, logo files, packaging and destination country. Include any testing or labeling requirements. If a competitor sample is used as a reference, explain which features should remain and which should change. This reduces unnecessary questions and sample revisions.
Calculate the first-order budget
The total project cost is more than the unit price. Buyers should compare sample charges, tooling if applicable, product cost, packaging, quality inspection, freight and import costs. A quantity price ladder can help show how the unit cost changes at different order levels and whether a slightly larger order improves the overall economics.
Approve the sample before scaling
The approved sample is the physical reference for the order. Check fit, appearance, coating, logo, color and packaging before production. Record changes in writing. After the first shipment, use customer feedback to plan the next color mix and quantity rather than changing several variables at once.
